RTVE is dedicating almost two weeks to Pride 2025, intensely celebrating equality and diversity in Spain and highlighting LGTBIQ+ rights. With a comprehensive program across all channels – from live broadcasts to concerts and documentaries – the broadcaster sends a strong message for inclusion and acceptance.
A Festival of Diversity: RTVE’s Commitment to the LGTBIQ+ Community
RTVE’s commitment extends beyond mere content broadcasting. Targeted measures are being promoted to raise awareness among employees about sexual orientation and gender identity. These include the distribution of badges and stickers with the RTVE logo, the word “Respect,” and the rainbow flag. An “Awareness of LGBTI D&I” workshop in collaboration with the Business Network for LGBTI Diversity and Inclusion (REDI) will be offered, and data on the situation of LGBTIQ+ individuals worldwide will be published on the intranet. During the main Pride broadcasts, a special rainbow bow tie will also be displayed on screen.
“Saca tu Orgullo”: RTVE and Pridevisión at the Heart of the Celebrations
For the fourth consecutive year, RTVE will broadcast the large Madrid Pride demonstration live in the “Saca tu Orgullo 2025” special. Starting at 7:30 PM on La 1 and 9:00 PM on La 2, Eva Soriano and Aitor Albizua will host the show. Reporters along the entire route will collect personal testimonies from participants.
Another highlight is RTVE’s own float at Madrid Pride, from which prominent RTVE professionals and artists associated with the Eurovision Song Contest and the Benidorm Fest will be welcomed. The popular “Pridevisión” returns for the third time on Thursday, an RTVE-promoted initiative where numerous Eurovision and Benidorm Fest faces perform on the big Pride stages. Madrid Pride celebrations will be enhanced by concerts from K!INGDOM, DeTeresa, and Soraya.
Musical Highlight: The “20 Years of Love” Concert
On Sunday, July 6th, La 2 will broadcast live from 9:30 PM the emotional “20 Years of Love” concert from Plaza de España in Madrid. Hosted by Ruth Lorenzo and Inés Hernand, the audience can expect an impressive lineup of artists, including Ana Torroja, Marta Sánchez, Rozalén, Gloria Trevi, Pastora Soler, Maria Peláe, Falete, Kuve, Mel Ömana, Carla Frigo, Samantha Hudson, Luis Miguélez, and JJ, the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest.
20 Years of Same-Sex Marriage: A Look Back and Forward
June 30th marks the 20th anniversary of the recognition of same-sex marriage. RTVE’s news programs will dedicate special reports to this important anniversary. “Informe Semanal” and Canal 24 Horas will also commemorate it, with Canal 24 Horas additionally providing comprehensive coverage of all Pride events.
RTVE Noticias celebrates the anniversary with the special “Iguales, 20 años,” focusing on intergenerational dialogue and examining the significance of same-sex marriage then and now. Igor Gómez and Ángela Fernández will host the program, which airs on Monday, June 30th, at 8:10 PM on RTVE Noticias’ YouTube channel, Canal 24 Horas, and RTVE Play. Guests such as writer and activist Paco Tomás and influencer Daniel Valero (Tigrillo) will enrich the discussion.
Further reports from RTVE Noticias include the persecution of the LGTBIQ+ community in countries like Hungary, the topic of biphobia, and stories from parents who experienced their children’s coming out. Data RTVE will analyze the evolution of LGBTI rights worldwide, while Verifica RTVE will investigate the use of AI to spread disinformation – particularly to masculinize women and attack trans people.
The 20th anniversary of same-sex marriage will also be a central theme in the news programs of Radio Nacional de España. The radio will also focus on Pride in rural areas and report extensively on the large demonstration in Madrid and other important events across the country.
