Tragedy at Fairground in Murcia: Two-Year-Old Girl Dies After Electric Shock

Murcia, Spain – A shocking tragedy occurred this morning at a fairground in the Murcian district of Alquerías. A two-year-old girl has died after suffering an electric shock. The incident also left three other minors injured, as reported.

Dramatic Scenes in Alquerías

Around 00:01 AM, an urgent call for help reached the “1-1-2” emergency services. A two-year-old girl was unconscious at the fairground in Alquerías and bleeding from her nose. Callers reported that the child had suffered an electric shock. The local police of Alquerías, who arrived promptly on site, confirmed the minor’s unconscious state and requested urgent medical assistance. Guardia Civil patrols also participated in the response and investigation of the facts.

More Children Affected

The Department of Emergency Management and Health Emergencies “061” dispatched a mobile emergency unit. Another ambulance was mobilized when the local police reported that three other children were also affected by electric shocks. Fortunately, these children were conscious, and their condition did not appear as serious as that of the unconscious girl.

Desperate Rescue Attempts and Sad Certainty

Despite one hour of desperate cardiopulmonary resuscitation attempts by the UME health personnel, the life of the two-year-old girl could not be saved. Her death was confirmed at 1:16 AM. The “061” personnel also attended to a 29-year-old woman suffering from an anxiety attack, as well as an eight-year-old girl and two boys aged 11 and 12, all of whom showed symptoms of electric shock. These three minors were taken to the hospital on their own initiative.

The exact cause of the electric shock is currently under investigation. The tragedy raises serious questions about safety at fairgrounds and has caused great dismay in the community.
