Spain's Voice for Gaza: Nationwide Demonstrations Against Genocide in Palestine on June 14

This coming Saturday, June 14, Spain will witness a historic wave of solidarity: Madrid and 124 other Spanish cities will host nationwide demonstrations. The “Stop War” movement is calling for a national day of action to demand an immediate end to the genocide in Palestine and to transform public outrage into resolute, peaceful, and unified action.

Cultural Support and Unified Motto

An impressive list of prominent figures from the Spanish cultural scene has joined the initiative. Luminaries such as Pedro Almodóvar, Eduardo Casanova, Malena Alterio, Rayden, Silvia Pérez Cruz, Rodrigo Sorogoyen, and Elvira Lindo are using their platforms to call for participation on social media. Their message is clear: “For a just peace. Free Palestine. Final ceasefire. Neither terrorism nor genocide.”

The demonstrations, supported by over 100 organizations and institutions, will begin nationwide on Saturday, June 14, at 12 PM noon. The movement’s manifesto condemns the “endless war crimes” committed by Israeli troops and the “extreme violence of the bombs,” exacerbated by a siege that condemns the Palestinian people to “total starvation.”

Meeting Points in Madrid and Beyond

For a detailed overview of the starting points of the demonstrations in each Spanish city, PararLaGuerra has published an interactive list. In the Autonomous Community of Madrid alone, seven demonstrations are planned:

  • Leganés: Plaza de España
  • Alcobendas: Plaza del Pueblo
  • San Sebastián: Plaza del Ayuntamiento
  • Alcorcón: Plaza de Alcorcón
  • Soto del Real: Plaza de Soto del Real
  • Getafe: Plaza del General Palacio
  • Madrid: Plaza Juan Goytisolo (near the Reina Sofía Museum)

These carefully selected locations ensure maximum visibility and accessibility for all participants.

Further Mobilizations in June

The protests on June 14 are part of a series of mobilizations taking place in Spain to demand an end to the Gaza conflict. Already on June 7, a demonstration was held in Madrid under the motto “Against Rearmament and Militarization,” a few weeks before the NATO summit.

Just one day after the nationwide protests, on June 15, the Global March on Gaza will be called. This international mobilization will begin in Cairo and culminate at the southern border of the Gaza Strip.

Furthermore, another demonstration is planned for June 20 at 8:00 PM in Madrid, leading from Cibeles to Plaza de España. The goal is to denounce the “20-month genocide” and demand an end to arms trade with Israel.

Spain is sending a clear signal for peace and humanity. The broad support from all parts of society underscores the deep concern about the situation in Gaza and the desire for a just and lasting peace.
