An alarming locust infestation has spread across the province of Zaragoza, affecting an estimated 10,000 hectares of agricultural land, particularly in the municipality of Farlete. The discovery was made on Monday by technicians from the Plant Health and Certification Service (CSCV), who confirmed the enormous scale of the infestation.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food has expressed concern but cannot yet provide precise details on potential crop damage. A more detailed assessment of the situation is expected on Tuesday when CSCV technicians return to the affected area to further investigate the pest’s development and plan possible control measures.
To respond to the crisis as quickly as possible and minimize the impact on farms, the Ministry, led by Javier Rincón, has already contacted the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food (MAPA). The cooperation between the authorities is crucial to support farmers during this difficult time and prevent further spread of the plague.
