In Alicante, the National Police rescued the driver of a car that was about to fall into the depths at the edge of a precipice

National Police officers in Alicante managed to save the life of a 48-year-old woman. They prevented her from plunging her vehicle off a cliff near a popular beach. The dramatic operation was carried out by forces from the Citizens’ Action Group (GAC) of the Provincial Public Security Brigade. The incident was triggered by an urgent emergency call to 112 warning of a woman who may have suicidal intentions.

The crucial tip came from the woman’s son. He alerted the authorities and provided all relevant vehicle data, enabling an immediate manhunt. During the search, a patrol car spotted the described car with its engine running, just a few meters from the precipice.

As the police approached, they recognized a visibly agitated woman inside. The moment they saw the vehicle moving inexorably toward the cliff, the officers didn’t hesitate for a second. Risking their own lives, they ripped open the driver’s door and tried to pull the woman out of the car. Despite fierce resistance and screams, they finally managed to free her from the vehicle as it continued to roll toward the precipice.

Seconds later, the car’s door and underbody became wedged in the sand, stopping just before it plunged into the sea—one front wheel already suspended in the air.

Emergency services found a handwritten suicide note inside the vehicle. It was also confirmed that the woman had sent a final message to her son shortly before the suicide attempt.

The rescued woman, now out of danger, was immediately treated by paramedics and taken to a hospital, where she was placed under medical observation.
