Sóller, Mallorca – Tragic news reaches us from Sóller, Mallorca: A 34-year-old Dutch national died on Thursday afternoon on the Camí de Son Sales, a rural road in the municipality, due to heatstroke. The incident occurred around 2:50 PM when the 112 emergency center received a call about a person showing symptoms consistent with heatstroke. Local media, including Crónica Balear, reported that the temperature in Sóller had already reached 31 °C at that time – a dangerous heat that proved fatal for the young man.

Immediately after the emergency call, SAMU 061 activated the rescue services. Two advanced life support ambulances, a doctor from Sóller – due to the immediate proximity to the incident site – as well as a logistical support vehicle and firefighters rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival, the rescue workers found the man unconscious and in critical condition. Despite intensive resuscitation efforts, doctors were unable to save him. There is a “high suspicion” that heatstroke was the immediate cause of death.

Should heatstroke be confirmed as the cause of death, this would be the second heat-related fatality in Spain since the beginning of this summer. Previously, a 58-year-old man in Córdoba died under similar circumstances. These tragic events underscore the urgent need to take the dangers of extreme heat seriously and to take appropriate precautions, especially during the summer months in Spain.
