A disturbing data leak shook Spanish politics on Thursday: telephone numbers, email addresses, and even private addresses of seven sitting ministers of the Sánchez government have been made public. Affected individuals include María Jesús Montero, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, Óscar Puente, Luis Planas, Diana Morant, Ana Redondo, and Elma Saiz. This was confirmed by sources from the Ministry of Interior to EFE and THE OBJECTIVE. The publication also includes sensitive data of former high-ranking officials from the Mariano Rajoy government as well as prominent figures from Podemos.

Revealing Details: From DNI to Private Address

The leaked information is alarmingly detailed. In addition to the ministers’ telephone numbers, their National Identity Documents (DNI), email addresses, and private residential addresses were also exposed. Interestingly, some ministers, such as María Jesús Montero and Luis Planas, even have two different DNI numbers listed (“DNI 1 and DNI 2”). Furthermore, some email aliases in the leaked data do not appear to have a direct connection to the ministers’ real names, raising questions about the origin and verification of the data. This newspaper has already confirmed that some of the leaked data is accurate.

Podemos and Rajoy Era Also Affected

The data leak is not limited to the current government. Leading figures from Podemos are also on the list, including Ione Belarra, Pablo Iglesias, Irene Montero, Pablo Echenique, and Rafael Mayoral. Of these, only Irene Montero is currently active in the party.

In addition, five former ministers from the Mariano Rajoy government are affected by the incident:

  • Elvira Rodríguez (former Second Vice President and Minister of Justice)
  • María Dolores de Cospedal García (former Fourth Vice President and Minister of Defense)
  • Rafael Catalá Polo (former Minister of Interior)
  • Isabel García Tejerina (former Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food)
  • Ana Pastor Julián (former Minister of Culture and Sport)

The sensitive data was published early Thursday morning on a Telegram channel by an anonymous user and later re-published by another user. The National Police have immediately launched investigations to clarify the background of this serious data leak and to hold those responsible accountable. It remains to be seen what impact this incident will have on the political landscape and public trust in data security in Spain.
