On Wednesday, a large fire broke out at a chemical products warehouse in the Sevillian city of Alcalá de Guadaíra. The flames ignited at Plainsur S.A., a solvent factory in the La Red industrial park, and created a massive plume of smoke, according to emergency services. They have already begun a preventative evacuation of the entire industrial park.
The emergency number 112 received several calls around 1:30 p.m. warning of the flames. Fortunately, there were no injuries at this time, as initial information indicates that all factory workers were evacuated to safety. The National Police assured that no other businesses were affected, while residents were urged to stay home and close doors and windows.

The city council has activated the local emergency plan, instructing companies to evacuate their employees and urging the population “to remain in their homes to avoid any possible risk of poisoning.” The chaos caused by the flames is also leading to a “monumental traffic jam” on the A-92, where, according to some witnesses, there are significant traffic disruptions.

Workers from Covey Alquiler, a company located directly across the street from the affected facility, reported being “surprised” to see the flames above the warehouse. Suddenly, a very loud explosion was heard: “The first thing that went through my mind was that we should get out of here.” Given the situation, emergency services have already begun a preventative evacuation of the entire industrial area.
Fire crews from the Provincial Council have been dispatched to the scene, particularly from the fire stations in Alcalá de Guadaíra, Mairena del Alcor, Mairena del Aljarafe, Utrera, Arahal, Sanlúcar la Mayor, and La Rinconada. Members of the Seville Fire Department, as well as the National Police, the Local Police, and the National Police Unit of the Junta de Andalucía are also on site.
