An English couple dies aboard a Ferrari on the León-Cantabria motorway

In the early afternoon of Saturday, May 10, the two occupants of a British-registered Ferrari sports car died when their vehicle plunged into a river on the N-621 national road, which connects the eastern part of León to Cantabria via the port of San Glorio.

According to sources from the Guardia Civil for Traffic, ILEÓN has confirmed that they were a middle-aged couple of English nationals – a man and a woman. The incident occurred in the municipality of Boca de Huérgano in the province of León, near the town of Portilla de la Reina.

For reasons that are still unclear – according to a telephone report – the car plunged into the Yuso Riverbed at kilometer 112 of the N-621 (León-Unquera) at 2:13:47 p.m. In addition to the impact, the sports car, a Ferrari M488, overturned in the water, causing part of the vehicle to become submerged, according to sources from the Junta de Castilla y León’s 1-1-2 emergency service.

As soon as the coordination center learned of the incident, it mobilized firefighters from the Sepeis service of the Diputación de León in Cistierna and officers from the Guardia Civil. Medical resources were also deployed, with an ambulance from Health Castilla y León’s Basic Life Support (Sacyl) and the health center’s Continuous Care Point (PAC) dispatched to the scene.

However, these measures were unnecessary, as firefighters and Guardia Civil officers had already recovered the lifeless bodies. The health services confirmed the deaths of the two occupants, whose identities are currently unknown.
