President of the Spanish Government Pedro Sánchez celebrated Europe Day yesterday by meeting with Spanish citizens whose personal experiences illustrate the positive impact of the European Union on their lives. During this meeting, he emphasized that their stories embody the values ​​and initiatives of the European Union, including innovation, entrepreneurship, digitalization, mobility, and social cohesion.

With this event, Pedro Sánchez honored the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, which laid the foundations for European cooperation and ushered in a new era of peace, integration, and democratic cooperation among the member states of the European project.

According to President Sánchez, Izaskun, Carlos, Alba, Juan, and Audra represent the values ​​and initiatives of the European Union in various areas such as scientific progress, entrepreneurship, digitalization, mobility, and the protection of a fair market. The personal relationships that shape the concept of European citizenship should not be forgotten.

The President of the Government pointed out that the European Union is the greatest project of peace and unity in history, contributing to improving the lives of its citizens. In this context, he emphasized that Europe is not an abstract entity in Brussels, but is built daily through the active participation of all citizens.

He also recalled that Spanish society is one of the most pro-European, with recent polls showing that almost 70% of the population associates the European Union with terms such as “democracy,” “welfare state,” “peace,” or “justice.” On a scale of 1 to 10, Spaniards rate their Europeanism on average at 7.4.
