The Andalusian regional government announced this week that water restrictions on the Costa del Sol have been lifted, allowing water supplies to return to full capacity.

As of Friday, normal water consumption limits will apply to Costa del Sol residents: each citizen is allowed to use 250 liters of water per day.

Inland reservoirs, such as La Concepción, on which the western Costa del Sol depends, continue to see rising water levels, with many reaching discharges of 62%.

Thanks to several storms and floods in March, the reservoirs were able to store over 370 cubic hectometers of water. Málaga experienced its wettest March in 20 years this month.

In February of last year, Spain’s southernmost region suffered its worst drought in over 40 years. The recent spring rains have brought welcome relief to many.
