Linares Shooting: Police Kill Armed Attacker After Firing on Pedestrians

In Linares (Jaén), a dramatic incident occurred on Thursday evening, where a man who shot at pedestrians with a shotgun, injuring one person, was killed by the police. The victim of the shooting is currently in the hospital.

Chronology of Events

According to the National Police, an emergency call was received at 10:09 PM from the local Linares police. It reported an armed person with a long weapon firing shots at pedestrians in a field near the La Paz neighborhood, far from the city center. As a result of these shots, one person was injured and had to be immediately transported to San Agustín de Linares Hospital.

Police Intervention and Tragic End

Immediately, units from the local police and National Police rushed to the scene. The officers promptly initiated the protocol designated for such high-risk situations and attempted to persuade the armed man to surrender. These efforts, however, were unsuccessful. During the police operation, the assailant was severely injured and died on the spot despite all medical efforts.
