In a disturbing incident that has rocked the rural community of Castro de Rei in Lugo, a man has been charged with attempting to rape a cow. The events unfolded in the early hours of Sunday morning at a livestock farm in the parish of Triabá, amidst local patron saint festivities.

Nighttime Assault: Farmer Catches Perpetrator Red-Handed

The farm owner was alerted around six in the morning by unusual noises coming from the cattle shed, located near the festival grounds. His mother also heard the distressed cries of one of the cows. They immediately rushed to the facility to investigate. There, they encountered a man. Initially, they suspected a theft attempt. “The man told me he had come to spend the night here,” the owner recounted to El Progreso. However, they quickly realized the true nature of the scene: the man was in the process of raping one of the cattle, whose legs he had tied with a rope.

Escape and Confession: The Long Arm of the Law

The perpetrator fled the scene immediately upon being discovered. It was noted that he was carrying a stool, which reinforced the owner’s suspicion that this might not have been an isolated incident and that the man was “equipped with everything he needed.” The farm owner promptly contacted the Guardia Civil. The very next day, during a vermouth session at the ongoing festivities, the alleged rapist was identified. According to local media reports, the man admitted to the acts to the officers, who were also present at the session. On Wednesday, he appeared in court in Lugo to give a statement.
