A brutal confrontation between two rival family clans in the hamlet of El Puente del Río (Adra, Almeria) claimed the life of a 22-year-old man on Monday. During the mass brawl, involving over twenty people, the young man was shot and succumbed to his injuries shortly after in the health center.

The tragic events unfolded just before 9:00 AM on Marte Street. According to initial findings, a dispute over loud music is believed to have escalated, culminating in a shooting. In addition to the fatally wounded individual, another person was injured, although their condition is not serious.

The 112 coordination center of Andalusia received multiple emergency calls warning of a firearms attack. Local police and the Guardia Civil were immediately alerted. Arriving officers confirmed the young man’s death shortly thereafter.

According to sources consulted by the EFE news agency, both the victim and the alleged perpetrator, a man between 50 and 60 years old, belonged to rival clans. These families had been involved in confrontations multiple times in the past.

The Guardia Civil has taken over the investigation. The forensic laboratory and the homicide unit of the organic unit of the judicial police are on site to secure evidence and carry out further investigative measures. The aim is to clarify the exact course of events and apprehend the perpetrator(s). The investigation is ongoing.

José María Martín, the deputy delegate of the government in Almeria, commented on the incident during a press conference. He emphasized that the information was still scarce and the investigations were “very young.” When asked whether there was a connection to other recent incidents in Berja or El Ejido, Martín explained that this was unlikely at this point and that it was a personal assessment.
