A jealousy-fueled argument – this is the central hypothesis being considered by the National Police in their investigation into the death of 18-year-old Antonio M.H. The young man was injured in a knife attack around 8:00 p.m. Friday evening in a park in the center of Cáceres, while another minor, under 17, was involved in the incident. The injured man is hospitalized with serious injuries and is in police custody pending an arrest warrant for suspected homicide.
The argument that led to the violent confrontation was based on jealousy and ended in a fight between the two teenagers, who were armed with knives. This took place in the park in the Peru neighborhood, in a busy area next to a supermarket, and resulted in the minor fatally stabbing the 18-year-old. The two boys knew each other before the incident and had argued about their relationships with a girl. Two citizens who witnessed the incident immediately rushed to the scene when they saw the fight in the distance and one of the boys wandering around until he finally fell to the ground. They immediately called the emergency services at 091 and the police, but by the time they arrived, it was already too late to save the life of either of the two teenagers involved in the fight.
The scientific police then activated the appropriate protocol for such cases and cordoned off the area to secure evidence of the incident, particularly the knife that was used as the suspected weapon. The young man received first aid in the park itself and died moments later. The 17-year-old boy also suffered serious injuries, including at least one cut to his neck, and was taken to the University Hospital of Cáceres, where he continues to receive treatment after undergoing surgery yesterday evening.
The deceased teenager was a talented basketball player on a junior basketball team in Cáceres. He is the son of a well-known businessman who runs a lottery administration, while his mother is a teacher. The seriously injured minor has both parents who are also teachers at two high schools in Cáceres.
