The Balearic Civil Guard has received a complaint from the family of a 90-year-old woman who claims to have been the victim of a sexual assault in a nursing home in the Mallorcan municipality of Calvià. According to investigative sources, the incidents allegedly occurred two weeks ago, and the family filed a complaint with the Calvià Civil Guard last week.
The woman reported to her relatives that she had been the victim of a sexual assault while staying at one of the municipal nursing homes, according to the complaint. The elderly woman had occupied one of the temporary residential services offered for a maximum period of two months. Her family was away, and when they returned, she told them about the incident, prompting them to file a complaint.
The municipal authorities stated that they had no record of the rape complaint and that they were informed of the incidents by the Civil Guard when the woman was no longer at the facility. Investigative sources have indicated that the woman did not disclose the identity of the alleged attacker in her report and did not clarify whether the assault was committed by a staff member or another resident of the facility. The Guardia Civil is continuing the investigation.
The Calvià City Council has emphasized that it is actively cooperating with the investigation and has provided the information requested by the Guardia Civil. “We express our full support to the victim and are committed to a swift clarification of the events,” they stated.
