The Barcelona Provincial Public Prosecutor’s Office has requested a prison sentence of 107.5 years for a man accused of sexually abusing a minor and offering her to third parties via various platforms. This is according to an indictment seen by Europa Press.
At the time of the crimes, the victim was only 12 years old and under the care of the General Directorate for Child and Adolescent Welfare (DGAIA) of the Generalitat de Catalunya, while the accused was 40 years old.
According to the letter published by Cadena Ser, the man contacted the minor, born in 2007, in May 2020 via the Badoo app. He then began communicating with her via Instagram and other social networks, convincing her to send him photos with sexual content.
He eventually met the minor that same year in a shopping center in the province of Barcelona. From there, he took her to his home, where he sexually abused her. Subsequently, several meetings took place between the two in the defendant’s apartment until 2021.
He also persuaded her to allow herself to be photographed and filmed during sexual acts. He posted these images on social networks in order to entice other pedophiles to have sexual contact with the minor in his presence.
According to the public prosecutor’s office, the defendant posed as the minor on the Lovoo and Instagram apps in order to offer her “indiscriminately” to users.
The defendant recorded both the sexual acts he imposed on the minor by third parties and those he himself had with her, and saved “no fewer than 20 videos” of these incidents on his cell phone. According to the indictment, there were up to eight episodes in which the minor was sexually abused by third parties and recorded by the defendant.
The public prosecutor’s office also describes the contents of the cell phone, laptop, and hard drives seized during the police search. In addition to videos and photos of the minors, investigators also found thousands of files depicting young children being sexually abused by adults or other minors.
Based on these facts, the public prosecutor’s office is accusing the defendant of several offenses: including harassment of a minor under the age of 16 using information technology, obscene exposure to a minor, and one count of continued sexual assault of a minor under the age of 16, with the aggravating circumstance that the acts were committed by two or more persons and the victim was in a particularly vulnerable position.
In addition, he is charged with six counts of sexual assault of a minor under the age of 16 with carnal access, as well as one count of sexual assault of a minor under the age of 16 with vaginal, anal, and oral access, as well as the insertion of body parts.
He is also accused of abusing a minor to produce pornography, taking into account the serious sub-crimes of being under 16 years old, the vulnerability of the victim, and the distribution of child pornography. For all these reasons, the public prosecutor’s office is demanding a prison sentence of 107.5 years and compensation of €100,000 for the moral damages suffered by the victim.
